Summarize gender aspects of the representation. Give enough detail so that someone who is not already familiar with the representation will understand. Next name and then use at least two different critical or theoretical approaches to analyze and critique the gender representations. You will turn in a project that contains text (written or spoken), which may be combined with images, sound, video, hypertext, or other media. Be sure to give proper reference where it is due, including to any images. You may work with one other person and turn in one project per group, or you may work alone.
Prepare a visual (printed pieces of paper to tape to the wall, a laptop or tablet with a presentation, a poster...) for an in-class presentation session that is modeled after poster presentations at Appalachian's student research day as well as professional conferences. We will divide up the class into two presentation sessions. During your presentation session, you must stand by your visual to present your project and answer questions. The presentation component typically involves a group of 1 or 2 students at a time listening to and looking at your project so they can take notes for peer review. During the other session, you will talk to others about their projects and fill out peer review. If you work on your project with someone else, you will each be in different presentation sessions. You will receive feedback from peers and myself, and conduct a self-evaluation. Project 1 relates to learning goals 1, 3, and 5, and you will have a chance to revise this project.
I am happy to help in office hours and you can also make an appointment through the library Research Advisory Program (RAP)
