Admission Information

Requirements

The general requirements for admission to the Graduate School of Appalachian are an undergraduate degree from a college or university of recognized standing, an appropriate undergraduate background, undergraduate transcripts, GRE scores, and TOEFL scores (if native language is not English).

Specific admission criteria includes a cumulative undergraduate GPA > 2.75, related coursework GPA > 3.0, and GRE Verbal + GRE Quantitative >= 1050. Furthermore, students must have completed course work in advanced programming in a high level language, discrete mathematics, introductory theoretical computer science, data structures, assembly language, computer architecture, two semesters of calculus, matrix or linear algebra, and calculus-based probability and statistics.

In special circumstances, students who have not fulfilled some of the specific score requirements or undergraduate course requirements, but are otherwise qualified for admission, may be admitted conditionally.

Procedures

Applicants should submit a completed application form, official transcripts of previous academic work, official GRE scores (subject test not required), 3 letters of recommendation, official TOEFL scores (if required), and the application fee to:
