Possible Course of Study for Computer Science Majors
(ready for Calculus I on arrival at Appalachian)

This course of study is intended to provide some guidance for computer science majors who come to Appalachian State University ready for calculus. There are many acceptable alterations to this schedule of courses although major changes may make it difficult for a student to complete the major in four years. Please discuss any questions with a faculty member in the computer science program.

* CS majors must take at least 12 hours of science. Science course must be selected from the following list, subject to the restriction that if a student takes PHY 1150-1151 for the science sequence, he or she may not take PHY 1103 or 1104 to fulfill the additional science requirement: BIO 1110, 2000, 2001; CHE 1101, 1102, 2201, 2202, 2210, 3301, 3302; GLY 1101, 1102, 1103, 1510, 1511; AST 1001, 1002; PHY 1150, 1151, 1103, 1104, 2010, 2020. Students must observe prerequisites for any course selected.

The courses listed in this guide satisfy the ND, C, and S special designator requirements, along with four of the six W requirements. Students must select social science and humanities courses to satisfy the MC, CD, and two remaining W requirements.

# CS majors must take at least 11 hours of CS electives.

Students at Appalachian State University must take at least 122 credit hours to graduate.
